Why did we chose Ruth Park?
Because she is an Australian-New Zealand author, and it will be nice to have an author from New-Zealand (well, half New Zealand ) ;)
Ruth Park’s top 5 books:
- The harp in the south
- Playing Beatie Bow
- Poor man’s orange
- Swords and Crowns and Rings
- A fence around the cuckoo
Quotes from Ruth Park:
- You’re a hideous old pollywobble!
- Having a baby is different from all the ordinary ways of being hurt.
- What has being a girl to do with anything if a person is properly qualified.
- The world is full of novels in which characters simply say and do. There are certainly legitimate genres in which this is sufficient. But in real and lasting writing the character is.
